Ist das eigentlich alles noch wahr? Haben wir echt keine anderen Probleme als ein paar Jungs, die mit ‘nem alten Schädel in der Wüste faxen machen?

Auf jeden Fall ist es ein grossartiger Sieg für die Betroffenheitsfraktion. Ich habe lange nicht mehr erlebt, dass unsere Politiker bei der Simulation der vermuteten Volksmeinung so dermassen übers Ziel hinausgeschossen sind.

Bei jedem gehörten oder gelesenen “Die Bilder erregen Abscheu und absolutes Unverständnis” (Die Welt), “solche Entartungen und Entgleisungen” (Süddeutsche.de) oder “abstoßend und Ekel erregend” (Spiegel Online) packt mich das spontane Bedürfnis, das verantwortliche Mediengerät unter Zuhilfenahme mechanischer Gewalteinwirkung dauerhaft abzuschalten.

Hat sich eigentlich mal jemand überlegt, warum die Jungs und Mädels da unten sind?

I’ve been preaching this for years now: Religions have always been, are and will always be the root of all evil and suffering (Hint: Here’s a list of wars — sort out those wars with no religious connection at all…)

Anyway, today I came across this Spiegel Online article: Happier without god (the article is in german — you can try a google translation for a laugh). Discovering kindred spirits on this highly emotional subject always feels good, but in this special case it is exceptionally joyful. Let me try to translate the first chapter:

Richard Dawkins, zoologist from Oxford University (remark: … which was already 659 years old when the united states of america declared their independence from Great Britain, just to give you an idea ….) is standing in front of the altar, enjoying to see the church fully occupied. In best British English he states: “The god from the old testament is a misogynic, homophobic, racist, genocidal, sadomasochistic, unpredictably evil tyrant.”

While I don’t fully comprehend what ‘sadomasochistic’ has got to with it, I totally agree on the rest. The whole article is great fun to read and strongly recommended.

Apropos recommended: I must admit I have not yet read a single one of the mentioned books but I’ll put them on my ‘need to order stuff from amazon’ list. Here they are:

You’ve probably seen this anti-emo postcard around 2006-06-06 (world metal day) and probably found it as funny as I did (unless you actually have one of those haircuts).

Anyway … now I found this flyer for a Berlin club which is advertising “Crossover, Alternative, Rarities” (sounds fair) and another floor with “Hardcore, Metal and Emo” … WTF?!

That’s either completely moronic or purely evil. Note to self: Have some of these “If you have this haircut …” slips printed and distribute them for a fun night out.

“Arenamontanus” gave some thoughts to which warning signs might be needed in the future.

While this is inherently a pretty creative idea he additionally came up with a couple of quite clever solutions and reasonable explanations.

Let’s hope he’s not prior-art embattling for a 2030s series of copyright lawsuits…

Haha. Or not. But: I got myself a new scanner yesterday. I went totally lowcost (a CanoScan LiDE 25) as I only need to scan stuff (mainly for the web) now and again. Besides, my last Mustek scanner (parallel port! ECP/EPP anyone?) was a gift from a friend back in … uhm … 1998 or 1999 or so … and it served me well till a few month ago.

Anyway, so I got this scanner yesterday, threw the CD away instantly, downloaded the tiny WIA driver and everything worked out of the box. (!!)

Today I figured I’d do a little “resolution test” and scan something really hi-res. Like … a banknote. I wasn’t completely naive about it and something about “scanning money” rang a bell — I vaguely remembered having read about countermeasures in consumer products but I had yet to see it. So I put a 20-Euro bill onto the glass, weighed it down with a book. Found the sticker on the box is lying: 600 dpi is not 2.400×1.200 dpi. So far — not surprising. Waited for the ~14MB to be squeezed over USB 1.1 (I said “lowcost”, did I not?). Fired up the graphics software and there it was:

When I referred to the forum threads on Suzanne’s site as “another idea I totally envy” that was supposed to be my only daily sin.

I really should have taken the time to look around. Sparked by her comment I went back and found an extensive site, packed with beautifully grotesque stuff.

You might get comparable results if you had an extremely skilled and completely psychopathic bunch of scientiest blend William Hogarth, Oscar Wilde and Marilyn Manson, but for starters: Here’s her site

Yet another idea I totally envy: A holy fashion thread (did I hear you yell “BLASPHEMY!!” … ? … *evilgrin*). Actually there are two threads now (part one and part two) and some of the ideas are quite inspiring.

I still favour the ‘opening picture’ (small thumbnail on the right). Compared to others from the thread this work is actually quite ‘young’ (it was done by Clovis Trouille in 1944) but I can well image how our beloved religious fundamentalists reacted upon it back then.

Anyway, like I said — besides some average pics the galleries feature some pretty nice and exotic works!

Those were the days! I stumbled upon this original muppet version of “manah manah” which really brings back childhood memories.

To be honest .. I found this over at Fleshbot when they featured an even older clip from a swedish softcore lesbian movie (which received a remarkable 8.0 out of 10.0 in viewer reviews over at imdb.com!!) — but who needs naked girls in saunas if you can look at these weird puppets?
